Client Fun, Busy Family: Pantry Organization

A couple of months ago I started a whole house organization project for a client and thought I would break it up into various blog posts because there are a ton of photos. Here is a pantry organization project below and we used what she already had. Check out this blog post where I offered pantry organization tips.

Made in the USA: Grow. Sunflowers

Some friends of my husband and I gave us this Grow. Sunflowers kit as a gift and I thought it was such a unique gift. Of course I love that it is made in the USA. They also come in a variety of different kinds like cocktails, greens, herbs, and salsa. Plus, it was such a fun, easy thing to plant. It has only been less than a week since they were planted and they have already started to grow. I can't wait to see how big they get. They make great gifts for kids, hostess gifts, etc.

Travel: Non-Toxic Austin, TX AirBnB

Since it is Earth month I thought I would post some eco/green posts or some of the like. In October of last year I visited a charming eco non-toxic Airbnb in Austin, TX. My husband and I frequent Austin throughout the year and I dream of moving there one day if we stay in TX. Anyways, I stayed in this place after being at Austin City Limits (ACL) for the weekend with some friends. I won passes to SXSW Eco and found it fitting to stay at this non-toxic place. I had a fabulous time being alone in Austin for several days. This place is very centrally located. You can pretty much walk, bike or uber whereever you need to go.

I loved going to SXSW Eco, yogaing at Black Swan Yoga, which is now in Houston as well, going to Shake Shack and overall just relaxing and catching up on work.

Many features of this place make it non-toxic like low Zero VOC paint, eco material like the fan and  the allergen free building materials.  Wifi worked great and it was wonderful sitting on the little patio area in the evenings.

Pros: great place, the owners are super easy to work with, great location, and easy in & out access. Cons:  I requested this place for ACL for 2016 for my husband and I and they quoted me $500 a night, which is absolutely ridiculous. Granted they are close to Zilker, just fyi you can find places for way less and I don't think it is worth it to stay there for that much a night unless you are in an absolute bind.

Would I stay here again? Yes, absolutely

Concierge's Must Have Item: Bose Earphones

About 7 years ago I received some Bose earphones as a birthday gift. I had been wanting them and use them all the time, especially at the gym. I also use them when working from time to time. I have to walk all over downtown Houston on occasion and it's great to listen to music as I am walking.

What I love about these is they are comfortable, relatively noise canceling and durable. 2 negatives......the price and they are made in China. Seriously it seems kind of ridiculous to pay $100+ for earphones, but I have to say they have lasted well through the years. I noticed that they have changed the style of the earphones since I received mine and the price went up, but I am guessing they are still the same when it comes to comfortability.

Fair Trade: Barn Yarn Catnip Toy

A few weeks ago my husband and I were at a natural pet store and saw these Barn Yarn catnip toys. Since we don't have cats, I immediately thought of friends I wanted to give them to. The great thing is that they are a fair trade item, they are made in Peru by descendants of Inca Indians, they are unique, they are 100% wool and made with plant dyes, and they are affordable.

3 Ways to Use a Divided Turntable

Have you seen this turntable from The Container Store? I love it and use it for various organizing projects. In my own home it is currently being used as a medicine holder in our kitchen. Since our medicine cabinet is upstairs, it becomes annoying to walk upstairs if we need something, so we started keeping some medicine in our kitchen. I saw on the The Container Stories blog that they used it for legos and loved it, among other things. Below are 3 ways to use this divided turntable:

Like I stated above it is great to use for medication in any room of the house.

It's great for party supplies. If you have people over you can bring it inside or outside and set it in the middle of the table or wherever.

I don't have nearly as many essential oils as some, but I think it is a great way to use this turntable if you use oils everyday. You can leave out somewhere in the house or put it in a cabinet.
