Client Busy Mama: Pantry Organization

As I have talked about on here before, a lot of clients that hire me to help them get organized don't always necessarily want new products and we use what they already have. With this client we purged old food, rearranged some of the shelving and then put accessible items on the bottom and things that are not used a lot on the top.

Here are some items that are good to use when organizing cabinets with deep shelves:

Client Quilting Lover: Craft Room Organization

This client is an avid quilter and was putting their house on the market, so they needed a major overhaul in the craft room. The client had great intentions and lots of organization systems already in place. I came in to help declutter and whip the room into shape. I love how she put each quilting pattern in their individual project cases. Here are some products that we used:

Made in the USA + Eco: Valentia

Have you tried these Valentia rose water spray and magnesium oil? I got both of them from the Amazon Prime Day this year because they were on super sale and got decent reviews. I love that they are both eco, cruelty free and made in the USA.

Eco Program: Crayola ColorCycle

With back to school here, I wanted to share an eco program from Crayola. It is the Crayola ColorCycle program where schools and teachers collect used markers, put them in a box and Crayola pays for the shipping. Love that you can recycle your old markers and help the planet out. Here is more about Crayola's green initiatives.

Water Bottle Organization

When I am organizing for clients, more times than not, they have a ton of water bottles. It is common to accumulate water bottles over time. I love using these water bottle storage racks. How do you store your water bottles?

Made in the USA: Innies Purse Shaper

Have you ever tried these purse shapers before? Professional organizers are constantly trying to think of creative ways to do things and these are perfect for purses to help them stand up right. We also use packing paper and bubble wrap from time to time to stuff purses. My client got these at The Container Store in Houston, but you can also find them here. I love that they are made in the USA.

The Importance of Checklists

Staying organized with checklists is so important! I was attending a NAPO conference session this past year and it was brought to my attention that I need to make more checklists. I'm a constant list maker, but didn't always have checklists for things that I do on a regular basis like supplies needed for certain projects, NAPO conference checklist, packing lists, etc. That is what I have been working on more and it has made my life so much easier. I just look at the checklist and I am good to go! I am constantly adding, subtracting and tweaking things too.

Do you make checklists?

Get Organized For Back to School

Create a command center: it will be where your bags go, keys, bulletin or message board, chargers, etc.

Print the school supply list: print the list of all the supplies you or your kids may need. Prep ahead of time. In August is when a TON of supplies go on sale at various stores or you can buy standard supplies at the end of the season when they are on sale.

Create a supply area: Have a station where you keep various school supplies in other areas than their room like in a study or kitchen, so you aren't constantly dragging supplies everywhere.

Master to-do list: Make a list of everything you know will need a place to live like, backpacks, papers to be signed, purses, keys, jackets, schoolwork, etc. Then figure out your organizing plan and what type of organization supplies you may need.

Plan ahead of time: Get a family calendar and write down everything everyone has going on. This way you will know when to plan for what. You may want to use a physical calendar or use something like an iCal, Google Calendar, Cozi or something similar.

Use a desktop file: You will get a ton of paperwork through the year and it is a great idea to have a desktop file to corral and file all paperwork.

Plan the night before: Plan everything you will need the night before. Put your clothes out, make sure you have everything you need to take with you ready to go, if you can prep your lunch the night before, plan what is for dinner the next day, etc.
