5 Things to Purge This Weekend

  • Take out menus. You can look everything up online and since COVID so many restaurants are still not fully open and have limited menu options.
  • Water bottles. We all get water bottles randomly, at free events, etc. and many of them we never use or don't like keep the ones you like and get rid of the rest. We often use these water bottle organizers in client's homes.
  • Organizers that don't fit properly in drawers. Lots of people often buy organizing solutions that are one big item with divided slots to put things like silverware and utensils in, in drawers, but they are often not the right size. I suggest buying individual drawer organizers so you can customize your drawer based on what you are putting in it.
  • Gifts from others you don't like. Most people get rid of gifts that others gave them because they think "what if they come over" and don't see it. Truth is most people NEVER ask that person about the gift they gave them. If you don't like it, donate it!
  • Clothes that no longer fit that you are "saving" to fit in. Many people hold onto clothes for many, many years that never fit. By the time they do fit most of them have gone out of style. Many people want to go shopping for something new and fabulous when they loose weight and no longer care about the old clothes.

5 Things to Organize This Weekend

  • Files. Go through all your files and get rid of ones that are outdated, you no longer need, or you no longer use. Recycle, shred and trash what you can.
  • Cords. Does anyone else have a box of random box of cords that you have no idea what they go to? If yes, then it is time to go through them and get rid of what you haven't used in years, you have no idea what they belong to or what you no need.
  • Table linens. If you no longer entertain and have an overwhelming amount of linens then it may be time to get rid of some. Only keep the ones you love and use.
  • Office supplies. Do you have an excessive amount of office supplies? Go through them and donate ones you don't need or want to various organizations, schools or someone you know that could use them.
  • Exercise supplies. Who has unused exercise equipment and supplies? If you have a sweat suit that has never been used in 2 decades than it is time to get rid of it.

Remember that by starting small on your organizing journey you will not get as overwhelmed like you would if you were starting a big project. If you need to break these various areas down even more to make them more manageable, then do that. Organizing shouldn't feel stressful and do what works best for you.
  • Toys. Get rid of any old, unused toys. Sort and organize toys into categories, so it makes it easy to find what you are looking for.
  • Spare bathroom. Do you even know what is in your spare bathroom? Go through everything and use bins to organize under the sinks and in drawers. Get rid of any old, expired products. Refresh the space every 6 months to make sure guest products are up to date and to make sure it is always ready for any unexpected guests you may have.
  • Shoes. Do you have shoes that are falling apart, shoes you no longer wear or want? If so, get rid of them. Figure out the best way to organize your shoes based on your space. You can organize using some shoe organizing solutions found on the Eco Modern Concierge shop page.

5 Things to Organize This Weekend: Last Minute Holiday Organization

Christmas is just days away and you are scrambling to get everything done.

Here are 5 things you can organize this weekend:

Plan. Set out dishes you will need, clothes you know you are going to wear, make to-do lists with top priorities, etc. This will help things go so much smoother.

Get rid of all old food in the fridge. Do a quick scan of your refrigerator and get rid of anything that is expired, you don't need or leftovers that have just been sitting in there.

Spot check the guest room. If you have guests coming over make sure the room is tidy, you have clean sheets for them, extra hygiene products, etc.

Use Amazon Prime &/or Amazon Prime Now. If you haven't finished your shopping yet utilize Amazon to get your last minute gifts in or give clutter free gifts like experiences, tickets, etc.

Delegate or outsource. If you know you will not be able to get everything done, delegate to others &/or outsource what you need done.

5 Things to Organize This Weekend

Legos. If you have kids, or perhaps for yourself, (I LOVE Legos!!) organize them in a way that works best for you. If you need to downsize then donate them or give them to someone you know. You can organize them in soooo many different ways like by color to by set.

Laundry room. Do you have laundry products that you never use? It is time to get rid of them and streamline your laundry area. Utilize bins to organize your laundry supplies.

Pet supplies. I don't know about you, but my sweet Rothko has a ton of old toys, old treats / food, etc. that needs to be tossed. Gather all items and try to keep them together like all their toys together, their food / treats together, etc.

CDs. Does anyone still CDs? I do! My husband makes fun of me, but I love having a cd that I can take with me from one room to another, on road trips, etc. Gather all CDs together in one area and eliminate what you no longer want, like or use.

Makeup. Go through your makeup and get rid of what you don't use, what is expired or what you don't like. If you use makeup regularly than there is good chance that there is a ton of extra makeup that you don't use at all.

5 Things to Organize This Weekend

Wallet. Most of us, men & women, have unnecessary things in our wallet. From unused cards to receipts to expired coupons. Time to purge all the things that doesn't belong in there.

Gift wrap. If you are anything like me you have a ton of gift wrapping supplies. Get rid of anything that you would not use on gifts, bags with tears, etc.

Books. Do you have books that you have been wanting to get rid of? Now is the time. Take them to resale, pass along to a friend, donate to a library, put inside of a Little Free Library, etc.

Video Games. Do you have old video games / accessories that you have no intention of ever using? Time to pass them along to others or donate to charity.

Cups. If you are anything like most people you have an unnecessary amount of cups that you have bought or gotten free. Sift through them and only keep the ones you use most often.
