Houston Professional Organizer // Why We Love Track Systems

Since it is summertime and garage season, professional organizers are on the mind for many people. We ENCOURAGE clients to contact us in the winter for garage organization, but inevitably many clients often want to organize their garage in the summer because they are using it more. Garages are often being used more in the summertime because it often holds all things outdoor related like bikes, pool supplies, toys and all the things, so people are getting in there more and more. Then they become frustrated because the garage is a mess and they can't get to everything easily or find what they are looking for. 

There are a couple of things that make garage organization efficient and easy and one of those things is using a track system. Using track systems helps to efficiently get things off the ground easily and make more room in your garage or space.

Houston Professional Organizer // Garage Organization Before & After Declutter Before a Renovation

This is a garage organization project we did a while ago as well and we helped this client declutter and get organized before a renovation. They knew they would have to use their garage to store some items in so they wanted it to get into better shape before they started renovating. They had already had an Elfa garage organization system installed and a track system on the wall, which was extremely helpful. This project consisted of 2 organizers and the client.

Here is what we did:

• Declutter. The client got rid of ton of items that they no longer needed, trash, donations, etc.
• Sort. We sorted like items together. 
• Consolidate. We consolidated items in various categories that were in different areas of the garage to all be in the same area on the shelves. 
• Organize. We organized various categories together like holiday, sporting equipment. 
• Go vertical. We used the track system on the wall to use the vertical space and get things off the ground like lawn equipment. 

This not the end all be all garage organization product because it changed after the renovation.

Houston Professional Organizer // Lake Houston Garage Organization Before & After

We are officially in the middle of summer heat and I feel like everyone wants to organize their garage in the summer, here is a garage I organized this garage last year. This client lives on Lake Houston and needed a place to keep their tools, yard supplies, coolers, etc. We used what the client already had to organize their garage. 

Here are some common items we use in garages to get them organized

• Track for yard tools
• Peg boards
• Sports organizer on wheels or a sports organizer that is stationary
• Crates

Client Photographer Couple: Garage Organization

I met this couple through a creative group and I helped them get their laundry room organized for this blog post. They loved their laundry room so much they asked me to come back and help them with their garage, which I was ecstatic to do and they are wonderful to work with. This garage organization was before the 100 degree temps set in here in Houston as well. He is a wood worker and had lots of tools, scrap pieces of wood and other materials he worked with. We used what they already had and did not buy an new products, except the plastic bins I brought along.

Here is what I did:

• Declutter items that were no longer needed and recycle them or donate them
• Group like items together like wood, tools, screws, etc.
• Put items into plastic bins
• Clear off work spaces
• Sweep up the garage floors

Client Power Couple: Garage Organization

I did this garage organization project several months ago for a long time client before it got too hot outside which was perfect. This is a longtime client and they had built ins put into their garage to store golf equipment, tools, recycling, etc. A company in Houston called Ideal Garage did the build out. I think it turned out great! I just love using pegboards in garages they keep everything nice and neat. 

Here is what I did in the garage:

• They had a tool chest that tools needed be transferred to the new drawers
• Golf equipment placed in cabinets and organized.
• Outdoor equipment placed in cabinets and organized.
• Tools hung on the pegboards.
• Got clear containers to hold tools / accessories.
